So a few weeks ago, I decided to give in to the hype and try ColourPop for myself.
And then a few days later, I stopped wearing them.
Why? Well, because I think my ColourPop lipsticks are the reason men have been hitting on me more than usual. LOL
Oh, I’m sorry, did you think this was gonna be a negative review?
Sorry, not sorry …
(Note: This is not a sponsored post! All opinions expressed below are my own. ColourPop had no clue I was going to post this, but they will now, once I send it to them. LOL)
No, ColourPop is as good as they say it is! It really is! I just can’t deal with all the random men hitting on me every time I wear it outside. LOL
So I’ve decided to only wear it for Bae, when I go out with Bae, or if I’m really going out somewhere! NOT TO WORK. LOL
I swear they need to have a disclaimer on their website and products! “Wear at your own risk. Use of product may lead to an increase in catcalls.”
Okay, okay let me stop clowning and give y’all this review because they really are good.
As hard as it was, I limited myself to purchasing only three colors, so I had enough money for the primer.
So let me tell y’all how these colors aren’t only uh-mazing online, but they’re also uh-mazing on your face! Ahhh! I was so damn worried that I would look stupid in them, especially the bright orange, but I don’t!
(I really wanna try a blue or green, but I’m still scared. They’re gonna have to send it to me for me to try those. LOL)
Left to Right: Cozy, The Rabbit, Panda
Anyway, what I really love about ColourPop is that you don’t need to keep applying through out the day to get that full color you walked out the house with, just swipe and bam! That’s it.
(You may have to slide it on a few times to get equal coverage all over, but once you apply it once, you’re good for the rest of the day.)
The first time I tried one, I applied the primer before applying the lipstick, but my lips were still extremely dry. I ended up applying some chapstick right over the color and that helped. Like really helped!
Now when I wear them, I put on vaseline first, since some chapsticks make my lips feel weird after a few hours, apply the lipstick and then once it starts to feel dry a few hours later, I apply the chapstick.
Funny enough, I was really scared applying the chapstick would dull the color, but it doesn’t! So yeah, I’m sticking with this routine because it works! LOL
FYI – I wipe the lipstick off of my chapstick after every use because the color wipes off really easily. What I really need is a lipstick setter or something that makes sure the color stays put.
It rubs off on EVERYTHING. I mean my headphones wire, my hamburger, everythang! LOL It’s really annoying, but that’s really not gonna stop me from using it.
I actually wiped off all of the color off of my lips (well I thought I was wiping all of it off) so I could eat, and when I was done I ended up putting on chapstick because my lips were dry. I looked in a car’s window and realized the color was still vibrant as hell! Like damn!
I really hate reapplying anything over and over through out the day, which is why I don’t wear makeup much. I mean, I wanna walk out the house looking cute and walk back in looking the same damn way I left, feel me?
You know how we expect our phones to last all day, no matter how much we use it throughout the day? Well yeah, thar’s how I expect my make up to last or I ain’t gonna even bother. LOL
But if you’re in need of an hourly estimate of how long this thang lasts, six hours after I first applied the lipstick, the colour was STILL popping! (Lame pun I know, so what! LOL) But that’s the only time I actually counted the hours.
Now for color that lasts so long, it’s usually extra hard to get off. (Let’s not talk about the struggle I had with L’Oreal’s longlasting lipstick. Jezzus! LOL)
But to take off my ColourPop ultra satin lipstick here’s what I did:
First I wiped off most of the color with a make up wipe. (Are we even supposed to use them on our lips? I mean I don’t know but hell it worked. LOL)
Then I just washed my mouth with soap and water to remove what was left. (Okay I really did it so I could stop tasting the wipe but yeah. LOL)
That’s it! I would also suggest using a lip scrub to make sure it’s all gone and that your lips are nice and smooth for the next time you apply.
(Or you can do what I do, and just scrub your lips gently with your toothbrush after brushing your teeth. I do it almost every morning and it saves me from having to buy a lot of lip scrub.)
So to wrap this up, and incase yo ass didn’t bother to read this entire post …
