Since today is basically the last day of Summer, (let’s not get technical here buddy, keep those “but Fall doesn’t start yet” comments to yourself, it’s freaking over, lol), I figured today would be a great day to look back on what I did this Summer. Don’t get all excited now, it’s not like I went skydiving or something, hell most of my Summer was spent watching Once Upon A Time on Netflix! LOL (Great show by the way, if you haven’t already started watching it, they just released season 5, so hurry up!)
Anywho, a few months ago I posted my summer to do list, and surprisingly enough, I actually got to do a few things on my list! (Let’s completely ignore the fact that I only have 3 weeks of “vacation” left and I still didn’t do 90% of my list, because that’s obviously not the point here people. LOL)
Whatevs. Stop judging me! Here’s what I did this Summer!
1. I had my first celeb interview!
Not only did I get to interview one of my favorite soca artists, Machel Montano, (which you can read by clicking this) I also got to meet a few amazing bloggers in person as well! It was great!
2. I took my daughter for her first manicure at Very Polished Nail Lounge.
(She had a blast, but I won’t be doing this again any time soon. LOL The experience was great though!)
3. I published my Bazodee movie review on HuffPost!
Yasssss! I’m now a HuffPost contributor. It’s mostly just to help the brands that I work with, but it’s a “great accomplishment”. LOL (We’re not gonna debate this right now, if you wanna know why I say this with quotes, email me or tweet me or somethang.) P.s – What I’m really excited about is the fact that this article was shared on Machel Montano’s Facebook page and was shared over a few thousand times! (I don’t really remember the numbers and I ain’t about to go check just to feed my ego. LOL) Just know it did GOOD man, and a lot of people read it, so that’s what I’m really happy about. If you wanna read the review, you can click this.
4. I took my “assistant” aka my little sister to her first press event.
We went to a Simply Caribbean food tasting and it was uh-mazing! Wanna read more about the tasting and what we had? Click this!
5. I went to my first red carpet movie premiere.
They look soooo much different on TV. LOL I’m not gonna spoil it for ya, but it was still dope! (I could have reached out and touched a couple of the actors if I wanted too, they were that close. LOL Okay, okay, I could have touched them, if I had got up and walked over to their row, which clearly I wasn’t about to do. But still, you get the point. LOL)
6. I wore ColourPop outside again! LOL
(Okay, that’s not why I really posted this photo, but if you don’t know why I started off with that statement you should read this.) But I did hang out for my friend’s birthday, where I met someone, and then let that nigguh go a few days later. LOL (Sorry, it wasn’t gonna work.) But it reminded me that there’s really no point in hanging on to people who I KNOW aren’t worth it.
7. I finally took my daughter to Barnes and Nobles!
Where we bought a fairy tale story book that we still haven’t cracked open due to the fact that she loves her Dr. Seuss books so damn much that she totally forgot about Goldilocks and all those other stories. LOL But we also bought a tiny book set that she started learning how to read. Really upset I haven’t been consistent with it, but I’m still trying to find balance between motherhood and everything else, so don’t judge me. The point is we started and she’s learning!
8. My tweet was featured in the newspaper!
I’ve always wanted something like this to happen, and bam! LOL I was tagged in the tweet that they posted with the copy of this, but I didn’t find out until late so I couldn’t grab a copy of the actual newspaper. Sigh. Oh well, screenshots live forever right? LOL
9. I don’t even know how this is an accomplishment, I just wanted to show off my stack of books. LOL
I started reading The Wicked Boy and it’s not as great as I thought it would be, but I’m going to try to get through it. (It’s just written in such a boring ass tone, like damn!) But I did also start reading Mother, Can You Not and it’s hilarious! Soon as I finish both, I’ll post a review!
10. We went to Splish Splash and had a blast!
So this was the first time I’ve ever been to Splish Splash, and actually the first time I’ve ever been on a water slide. But it was soooo much fun! And this little girl here went on one of the biggest rides (that even adults are scared of) and didn’t cry one bit! Well, that’s what I was told, she didn’t even sit with me, she was with her friend. LOL
11. I did something nice for a certain someone.
Now how’s this something to be proud of? Um, if you knew me personally you’d probably be shocked. LOL I mean I’m not that bad, but I do shy away from doing nice things (like this) for people, especially for dudes because some way, some how it always goes left once I do, or it’s not appreciated. But I went for it anyway, and I don’t think I jinxed myself. LOL (He never got the note though and I ate half of his strawberries, but that’s besides the point. LOL)
12. We went to an actual BBQ!
Of course I didn’t sit in the dirt like these crazy two did, but we still enjoyed the food. (Because that’s literally all there was there to enjoy. Sigh! This is partially why I don’t go to parties. You can’t play music and then not dance. What’s the point? And it was soca too! Stupes. Lemme move on to the next before I get vex. LOL)
13. I bought a new camera!
Yup! The last DSLR I had was stolen. (I mean it’s my fault for trusting someone with it, and that’ll never ever happen again, but yeah.) Now I have a new one and I can’t wait to actually learn how to use it.
14. My sister and I bought matching Tsum Tsum’s at Target.
(I don’t know why I’m proud of this one actually, but oh well. LOL) Can you guess which one is mine?
15. I went on a date!
(Ohhhhhh shittttttt! LOL) Yup! I didn’t see this one coming either y’all. But sure enough I ended up going on a date. I mean I was kinda dragged to go see the movie Sausage Party, but I ended up loving it. (It’s as racist as I am. LOL If you watched it then you’ll sorta get what I mean by that, since it wasn’t actually racist.) But whatevs. The movie was hilarious, I spilled ice cream in his car, and I’m pretty sure the lady in Cold Stone thought I was nuts, but we had a good time.
Oh and I also got to finally see my baby niece, and I fell in love with this ice cream thanks to one of my kids from work. So yeah, this Summer wasn’t a total, complete waste.
What did you do this Summer? Leave a comment below and let me know! No like for real, I really wanna know! LOL
