Now I usually don’t post anything on a Sunday, but since this conversation is still going, and my blog isn’t called Sanaa Rants for no reason, let me address this teacher bae foolishness! First thing’s first, she’s pretty as hell and her body is uh-mazing! She also seems pretty young, and she’s NOT a teacher! However, that’s not the point! The real question here is, “Is her attire for work inappropriate?” And if you want an answer to THAT question, then the answer is YES.
Let me repeat, her ATTIRE for WORK is inappropriate! Especially for someone who works in a school, teacher or not!
Now I mentioned she’s young above, because I’m starting to notice that with younger women, they don’t seem to grasp the concept of “work attire” to well, especially when their work code is casual. (Although, I’ve seen it with a few older women also.) But when working in a school, your clothes are supposed to be loose. No one is saying wear something that’s not your size, but don’t purposely wear something that you KNOW is going to be an issue! Simple! It’s not about anyone’s “rights”, it’s about being appropriate for WORK!
A lot of people have argued and said that it’s because she’s curvy, aka because she has an ass and big boobs, and that’s why people are making a big issue out of it. But as someone else commented on a Facebook status moments ago, being curvy has nothing to do with wearing tight clothes! You can be curvy and still dress appropriate for work! The difference is knowing when to wear a jacket or sweater over your shirt because you KNOW it shows your boobs off a bit too much, or choosing to wear a pencil skirt instead of a short skirt, because you know your ass is going to raise your skirt a bit when you bend down, so you need to dress accordingly!
THIS is the issue with being a woman!
We don’t get to just wear what we want when we want! Not if you want to be a respectable person at work! There’s a lot of, if I wear this, what’s going to happen, if I wear this, how’s that going to look to others?
Sadly enough, this lady is the ONLY person through this entire debate that has said that being curvy has nothing to do with wearing tight clothes and I don’t get why people don’t understand this concept. There’s a difference between a regular shirt that fits, and a shirt that’s tight, that fits! Her dress was TOO TIGHT for work. It had nothing to do with her body. Someone skinny could wear clothing too tight and it would still be inappropriate! The fact that she has curves just made the matter worst! (Oh and the fact that someone was dumb enough to post it on social media definitely made it worse, because the attention pretty much forced the schools hands, so to speak!)
But guess what? She KNEW what she was doing when she got dressed! I’m pretty damn sure she looked in the mirror that morning.
See the issue is, some women are so used to dressing a certain way that they forget they’re getting dressed for work. Especially when there’s no REAL dress code at work. They just think well if there’s no dress code, I can wear what ever I want, and that’s where they go wrong! You CAN’T wear what ever you want, even if there’s no real dress code.
A few years ago, I had a few co workers who wore tights and our staff shirt to work. (Same school based profession, just a different title.) And yes, they were talked to about it and written up for it. Why? Because tights are inappropriate for work! The same way y’all scream tights are not pants, is the same way I scream tight clothes are not appropriate for work! Even if you have no ass, tights are still unacceptable!
Don’t even get me started on the fact that kids these days are not being raised the way they used to! I’ve watched kids in elementary school, first grade included, curse at people, or make comments about the way someone is dressed! While you think there’s no harm being done in wearing a shirt that’s tight, or taking your sweater off for a few minutes because you’re hot, revealing your tight dress, these kids ARE watching you! And yes they’re talking!
They don’t get brave enough to say it to your face until JHS, but they ARE talking about what they’d like to do with you!
(I’ve heard it with my own ears.) So there’s a reason women are told to dress appropriately for work! You see what it does to grown ass men, imagine what it does to little kids! So yeah, she was wrong for wearing a skin-tight dress to work. Had she not wore that dress to work, and they had said oh she’s foine, oh and she works in a school, there would not be this big discussion! But she wore it to WORK!
So you tell me, was her attire inappropriate for work?
Don’t tell me what her rights are, don’t tell me how it’s wrong to sexualize her, because the point is, that’s going to be done whether we like it or not. The question is, was her attire inappropriate for WORK! Leave a comment below and let me know what you think. Talk to me!
