If you’re wondering what’s the answer to that first question, well, yeah, she did! LOL (Don’t believe me? Watch it here.) Unfortunately, that might be the ONLY thing that happened in FX’s new show called Better Things that I can’t relate too. LOL (My daughter is four, and the only pot she knows is the one we use to cook! LOL Let’s pray it stays that way!) However, everything else that happened in this show I can basically relate too! (It’s freaking sad. LOL)
(Note: I’m giving away a Better Things inspired “mommy survival kit” at the end of this post, so read on, because you’re going to have to answer my question below and leave a comment if you want to enter to win!) Anywho, what was I saying? Oh right! So I watched the first episode of FX’s Better Things, and I literally got scared at how close it was to my own life. Like OMG! LOL (Do all mothers go through this? Shesh!) So the first question I asked myself was:
Did she really just tell that lady to go buy her daughter the earrings she was crying over or to stop staring, and why don’t I have the balls to do that? LOL
It was so freaking funny, because I see kids crying ALL the time for things they can’t have, including my own, and I never really think anything of it when I see a child crying in public and their parent is ignoring them. (It’s because I’m a mom and I can relate. LOL Plus, I can usually tell the difference between a child crying because they’re hurt and a child crying because they want something they can’t have.)
But other people just stare at the parent like, aren’t you going to make your child shut up so I don’t have to listen to them wail? LOL However, a true parent knows that the only way to really deal with those situations is to let your child cry. Giving in makes them think that they can get away with certain things just because they’re in public and they WILL use that to their advantage! LOL And then came the bathroom scene, and I stopped to think:
What the hell? Wait, that was the conversation she just had with her ex?
I totally thought it was her boss or something. LOL Then her daughter asked who she was talking too and I bust out laughing! I’m not gonna lie though, I totally hate it when my ex (her father) calls too. It’s like, what the hell do you want? Nothing! Go away! LOL But then I had to stop again, and think …
Hmm… She does voiceovers?
OMG! I wanted to do voiceovers too! LOL What do we NOT have in common? Damn! And then she made the mistake of answering her phone while she was at work, and …
Wait, hold on one second, did she just LIE for her daughter?
I’m pretty sure her child did NOT go to the dentist, and she did NOT forget her homework in the car. But who am I to judge? LOL Then comes the “most important” scene, the pot scene, and that’s where this show lost me, because …
How the hell did she not slap the hell outta her child when she asked her to buy her pot?
(Or when she told her she should smoke pot because it’ll “mellow her out”.) I don’t know if I coulda been that calm. I might have crashed the damn car. LOL So yeah, this show definitely makes me feel a little bit better about my life! Especially now that I’m back at work, back in school, attempting to keep this blogging pimp hand strong AND my daughter is now in pre-k. It’s hard out here for a pimp! LOL (I may or may not be falling asleep as I write this post. Shhh!) Luckily, they sent me this mini mommy survival kit!
Now I can hide my face, stop losing my phone, and fix my clothes on the go, because you know, I was way too tired the night before, to bother getting ready like a normal adult would. LOL And so can you! All you have to do is click this link, watch the “Pillow” clip, and leave a comment below, answering this question:
When was the last time you had (or almost had) a mommy meltdown, and what caused it?
That’s it! Then one of you will be chosen at random to receive your mommy survival kit. Here’s what you’ll get if you win:
