So you wanna be a blogger huh?
Being a full time blogger is a lot of work, but being a part time blogger (which is something you’ll have to do before becoming a full time blogger) is somethang serious! I kid you not! Full time bloggers make enough money via blogging, so all they have to worry about, (sorta), is blogging. But when you’re a part time blogger, the money you make from blogging trickles in slowly and unsurely.
It’s like being lost in a damn desert, with a handful of water to drink!
You wanna bring your hand to your mouth as quick as possible so you don’t die of thirst, but the more you freaking move, the more your water slips through your fingers, quenching the thirst of the dirt beneath you. It’s the same for being a part time blogger. You wanna leave your stupid job so you can focus fully on blogging, but you can’t without making sure your blog brings in a decent enough income for you to quit, or you’ll also die of thirst (and starvation), but not before becoming homeless.
But boy is it hard trying to do both!
Then we have to factor in all the other obstacles! For me that’s also being a mother of a toddler, a full time student, still living at home and not having a job that I can actually leave at work! (I’m an assistant director for an after school program, and I’ve had to take on a LOT more work since we got a new director. Not complaining, just explaining.) For you, it could be anywhere from, having to take care of another family member, to working two to three jobs to make ends meet, etc, etc. So before you jump in to the crazy world of blogging, here’s what it’s REALLY like being a part time blogger!
My life’s a complete mess!
I know it may look pretty from the outside in, but nope, it’s a damn mess! Don’t believe me? This photo pretty much sums it all up:
So let’s evaluate this photo shall we?
1. My computer is a mess! Dirty screen = Using it too damn much to bother cleaning it and keeping it clean. LOL No seriously, my laptop does everything from blogging, to ensuring that I get straight A’s for school, to making sure my kids at work all have schedules, and our staff all know where in the world is Carmen San Diego!
2. My bed is a mess! There’s actually a LOT more clothes behind that pizza box people! Don’t let the camera, and that yummy looking pizza, fool you! (Don’t even ask me when was the last time I actually made my bed! LOL Ha!)
3. That pizza (*cough* Papa John’s new pan pizza that is *cough*) was cold by the time I actually got around to eating it. If there’s ever a day I get to eat my food hot, it’s a freaking blessing! Trust me. I do so damn much sometimes that I actually forget to eat!
4. I never made it past that page in the magazine! (Which was the first page I started reading. Sigh!) Once again, life got in the way, and I had to leave the magazine (and pizza) behind to tend to something else! And Lord help us all if I’m actually working on a blog post while I’m being called in ten different other directions, because BOOM, there goes my concentration! (And trust, it’s happened more times that I can count.)
I’m STILL learning how to take the perfect photos!
I literally took almost 200 photos for this one blog post! And how many of them did I actually freaking use? Go ahead, I’ll wait for you to count em! Sigh …
I clearly need a LOT of practice!
But that’s what happens when you’re a part time blogger! There’s no REAL time to invest in photography lessons, so you just have to learn it as you go. (So I guess you could say those 200 photos kinda helped, because with each one, I learned to tweak my settings, or my stance, in an attempt to get a better photo, and if that isn’t learning and practice, I don’t know what is.)
It takes FOREVER to figure out what to actually write about.
I used to think great posts would just come to me out of the blue, and sometimes they do, but sometimes they take forever! Sometimes it takes for me to stress it, get a headache, attempt to take a nap out of frustration, stop thinking about it, stress it some more, and then all of a sudden (finally) it comes to me! Sorta like how THIS post happened.
And these damn titles don’t make themselves you know! I put countless hours (okay sometimes minutes, lol) into creating just the titles, and sometimes I wonder if all that time wasted on a title (or even a post) is gonna pay off in the long run. But I guess we’ll just have to wait and see!
But you know what? There’s actually a good side to being a part time blogger, and that’s getting those first couple of sponsored posts (just like this one) that means the absolute world to you! I had absolutely NO clue I’d be working for Papa John’s to help promote their new Pan Pizza 7 months after finally taking blogging seriously, and revamping my blog! Hell, I had absolutely no clue I’d get to interview celebrities, and go to movie premieres, either.
So is it worth the struggle? I think so. But the thing about blogging is, you’ll have to go through your own struggles, to determine if it’s really worth it for you, or not. But until then, let’s side track a bit and talk about how GREAT Papa John’s new pan pizza is! Like omg! Just look at it!
It’s actually WAY better than their regular crust pizza. Like so much better I went and ordered myself another box last night, even though I had one over the weekend. LOL I mean it was only $10 so why not, right? And it was really good! I kept hearing mixed reviews about it, but when I tried it for myself I was sold! (I think who ever was complaining just got stuck with a bad pizza maker, because mine was good as hell.)
If you wanna know how good Papa John’s new pan pizza really is, or you just wanna see what it’s really like as a part time blogger (who hates making videos but has no choice but to do them) lol, then you can go ahead and watch this:
Other than that, I’m done boring you to death. LOL
But before you go, don’t forget to visit Papa John’s website to check out their new pan pizza! And when you get there, don’t just stare at them, order a few! (Okay, okay, order one. LOL I don’t know who I was telling to order a few. But just in case you do, would you mind sending one this way? LOL)
Also, don’t forget to leave a comment below! You can talk about your blogging struggles, or you can just talk about Papa John’s new pan pizza, like we’re supposed to in the first place. LOL Either way, the choice is yours, just as long as you talk to me!
