So a few weeks ago I attended a few of the events during Full Figured Fashion Week and from the very first event I knew my FFFWeek experience was going to be way better than my NYFW experience.
Well, I was right!
Here’s 6 Ways Full Figured Fashion Week Was 10x Better Than New York Fashion Week
1. I got free clothes!
Yeah, I got some cool iiJin house slippers, that I absolutely love! (If you have no clue what I’m talking about, read this.) But I mean, I can’t wear my house slippers outside, now can I? During FFFWeek, not only did I get a free t-shirt from Lane Bryant and Ashley Stewart at FFFWeek’s Expo, but I also got a few pieces from the Marla Wynne Collection, at Marla Wynne’s Blogger Event! And I mean actual clothes that I can wear outside! Not just in the house. LOL (Wanna see what I got from Marla Wynne? Click this.)
2. There was FOOD!
No, not just appetizers, which NYFW didn’t even have, but I mean real food! From Avenue’s Blogger Brunch to the Curves At Sea All White Cruise, we were eating good! Hell, there was even a light breakfast at FFFWeek’s expo! I’m gonna need NYFW to step it up a bit, and at least hand out wine and chocolate. LOL
3. Can you say All White Cruise?
FFFWeek isn’t just a few runway shows and peace we’re out! There’s a little something to cater to everyone, and the Curves At Sea All White Cruise was just one of their fantastic events to supplement their runway shows. Plus, if there’s even such a thing as a NYFW boat party, it’s probably an after party of some sort, not part of the actual festivities!
4. Everyone is really nice.
E-V-E-R-Y-O-N-E! LOL From the big name bloggers, to the Ashley Stewart models (that I had no clue were models until after I walked into a store a day later and realized it was the same girl I had talked to the night before, lol), to the founders of the brands, etc. No one had a stank attitude, or acted like press wasn’t shit just because they didn’t pay for a ticket to get in or weren’t VIP. *side eyes NYFW staff* Hell, no one cared if they had never even heard of you, or if you only had 1k followers. LOL The fact that you were there at the event made you family!
5. I felt like a somebody.
Even though I sorta hate taking photos, people asked to take my photo and I let them! (Reluctantly, but I let them. LOL) Marla Wynne, and Madeline Jones (from PLUS Model Magazine) even walked right up to little ol’ me and introduced themselves. And when I jumped into conversations, people actually stopped to listen! When I realized I was in such good company and was still treated the same as everyone, despite not being nearly as famous as any of the other bloggers, I was floored! Like wait, what? THIS alone is what made my FFFWeek experience better than my NYFW experience.
Even if it isn’t a networking event, you’re still bound to run into someone and exchange contact information, because you’re literally surrounded by uh-mazing people! There wasn’t an event that I attended where I just kept to myself. Hell, they wouldn’t let me. LOL (That’s how Madeline from PLUS Model Mag ended up introducing herself. We were standing in the corner, attempting to stay out of the spotlight, and she used that as an opportunity to say hi so we wouldn’t feel left out.)
And there you have it!
Even though I had to quit my FFFWeek volunteer position, I still had a way better time at Full Figured Fashion Week than New York Fashion Week.
Have you ever attended FFFWeek or NYFW? If so, how was it for you?
